Description Kikkoman Soy Sauce – naturally brewed Japanese Shoyu
Kikkoman Soy Sauce is probably the most well-known Japanese Shoyu and is a staple in kitchens worldwide. Shoyu is the Japanese term for soy sauce. The sauce is naturally brewed using a traditional method – from just four ingredients: soybeans, wheat, water, and salt. Through months of fermentation, an exceptionally balanced aroma with a particularly rounded Umami note is created, which is immediately noticeable.
It is a dark soy sauce, referred to in Japanese as "Koikuchi." Koikuchi soy sauces have a strong flavor. The taste of Kikkoman Soy Sauce is complex but not overpowering: slightly salty, pleasantly spicy, with a deep, warm Umami finish. This balance makes it one of the most versatile seasonings – suitable for both Asian classics and modern fusion cuisine.
Compared to industrially produced soy sauces, Kikkoman contains no artificial flavors, colorings, or preservatives. The result is a pure, honest quality that has remained unchanged for centuries.
Kikkoman Soy Sauces have a long tradition, dating back to the 17th century. As early as the 18th century, precursors of the current Kikkoman soy sauces were exported to Europe.
Anyone who wants to cook authentically Japanese cannot overlook this soy sauce.
